Who are the people in your life whom you love and cherish immensely? How often do you share with them what you love and admire about them? In this third and final of our Self-Expression Odyssey, I invite you to do just that. Join me in spreading as much love as possible. Over the next seven days, choose a different person each day to share “25 Things I Love About So-and-so.” If you haven’t already done this for yourself, start there. I refer you back to my first blog in this trilogy, A Self-Love Odyssey. With your help, we could start a Love Revolution. This is the greatest type of Self-Exposure.
You don’t have to stop at seven people. As you write your 25 Things list, invite each person to do the same, including the person who sent it to them. That, of course, is you. That being said, keep in mind that the more you send, the more you’ll get to hear how fabulous you are. This type of Self-Exposure may feel uncomfortable, but do it anyways.
If you sent one letter a day for the next month, you’d have a beautiful impact on 30 lives. For an added challenge, do this for people with whom you may be in conflict! Talk about shifting things to a higher vibration.
Each day as I wrote my list, other names popped into my head. I found myself looking forward to the next day when I’d write my 25 Things I Love About my new person. It brought me so many warm fuzzies I can’t begin to count them. It felt so good, some days I cheated and did two people.
I’ve decided a week is too short. There are far too many people I want to tell how much I love them and why. An interesting observation I’ve had is that my dear ones have a lot of similar traits. Perhaps that’s because they’re mirroring the traits I love about myself.
Imagine the impact we could have. If you only did this for one or two people, you still have the capacity to change someone’s life, even if it’s just for a day. Wouldn’t that be an incredible gift to give your loved ones?
We all have busy schedules. That’s part of what contributes to our disconnect as a collective. But truly, what’s more important than our relationships and our connection to another? Isn’t the reason we work so hard and do the things we do so we can have more quality time with the ones we love doing things we love to do?
Yes, health and spiritual practices are definitely our foundation for a happy, well-balanced life. The beauty of this Trilogy Odyssey is that it contributes to both.
As a spiritual practice, it moves you into a deeper sense of the Divine within you. Spending time in love takes us to a deeper state of Pure Awareness. Showing up as unconditional love, feeling it to the core of our being from a place of absolute clarity about the magnificence of ourselves and others, moves us beyond the core dynamics of human conditioning.
This love of self and of others infuses our confidence and self worth, opening us to a higher vibration. Our brains release so many wonderful neurochemicals when we focus on the positive aspects of life. These neurochemicals affect everything. Internally, they affect all the systems of the body including a well pumping heart and circulatory system, a digestive system that assimilates and eliminates optimally, and a kidney and renal system that goes with the flow rather than dumping a bunch of stress hormones into our system, keeping us in a constant state of fight-or-flight.
Externally, our relationships and careers excel. According to “science and spirituality” in Science of Mind Magazine’s March issue, Barbara Fredrickson, John Gottman, and Marcial Losada demonstrated that having a ratio of five-to-one positive thoughts over negative will cause your relationships to thrive and your businesses to grow.
Imagine the impact of this Love mission on your relationships and career as well as the world. When you charge Life with this type of energy, even the difficulties of life can be transformed. If you choose not to do this, rest assured that you have still given yourself a gift. Simply reading this article has generated positive thoughts toward your loved ones, releasing those positive neurochemicals into your body. You have been transformed by the thinking of your thoughts!
