This blog is written by our guest, Becca Chopra, author of The Chakra Diaries, and soon-to-be-released novel, Chakra Secrets. When not writing, she is a holistic counselor, yoga and meditation instructor, trying to spread the healing power of love.
Do you want to spice up your sex life or feel more passionate, graceful and creative? Unblocking your Sacral or 2nd Chakra may be the key. It is an especially important chakra for women to keep in balance, connecting you to your passion and to the Divine Feminine.
Located at the lower abdomen, right at the cervix, the Sacral Chakra governs how we relate to others and the flow of our feelings and expression in art, music, dance and living. It is the seat of our sexuality, the pleasure chakra that turns us on and is considered by many to be the doorway into creation itself.
Vibrating with the energy of the color orange, it is associated with the element of water. This major chakra relates to the flow of our emotions, our feelings, flexibility and openness.
“Emotions are energy in motion. If they are not expressed, the energy is repressed.” ~ John Bradshaw
Stress to this chakra can block our energy from rising from the first to the second chakra or vortex during lovemaking, causing our feeling of bliss to subside. We may become frigid or, as a result of never being satisfied, we may leap from one lover’s arms to another, seeking approval in all the wrong places.
“When you realize there is nothing lacking, the whole world belongs to you.” ~ Lao Tzu
And if acting overly sexual or becoming addicted to sex weren’t enough, an unbalanced sacral chakra may give rise to physical maladies like gynecological problems or impotence, colitis, or bladder tumors.
Wouldn’t you rather say hello to pleasure without feeling guilty, be able to give and receive unconditional love, as well as make a strong connection to others while retaining your healthy boundaries?
In short, fostering a state of happiness is what the sacral chakra is all about. When this chakra is balanced, you can embrace creativity with open arms, whether it is expressed through dance, yoga, swimming, sex, singing praises to the Divine, painting to celebrate self-awareness, or cooking for your inner goddess.
SACRAL CHAKRA MEDITATION FROM THE CHAKRA DIARIES
Turn on some soothing, melodic music. Inhale deeply, hold your breath and then exhale. Feel the red whirling energy of your root chakra move up to the center of your pelvis and turn into a beautiful deep orange color. Feel your connection to others through desire, sensation and movement. Listen to the gentle, flowing music and allow your body to relax into it and flow with it. Let go of any pain or tension in this area. Be aware of every feeling in your body. Enjoy them. Allow yourself to become part of the music of life. Repeat the mantra, “I am able to give and receive love.”
Two characters in The Chakra Diaries have unbalanced sacral chakras – one, a woman in her forties, Deborah has lost her libido, the other, Sarah, a young woman, is both unsure of her sexual orientation and promiscuous. Chakra balancing brings them back to a space of confidence and creativity where they are better able to trust their feminine intuition and make true love connections.
