The Ultimate Story

How often are your stories derogatory or limiting? I’ve always said, if you’re going to make up a story, make it a good one – in your favor…

During a workshop at a spiritual retreat I attended, the facilitator took us into a process for creating, based on the elements of story. As a writer, this appealed to me on many levels, so to look at my life from the element of story intrigued me.

What makes a good story is universal, whether books, movies, or real life. Think Harry Potter or Avatar. Or perhaps some adventure in your own life.

There’s the exposition or baseline, where everything is moving along at a normal, day-to-day pace. Add a spiritual bent, and this time is when we’re “in the flow.” A peaceful melody. Homeostasis if you will.

Then comes an inciting incident, which causes a great deal of tension. An upset in homeostasis. Each staccato-like clip on this part of the journey is filled with the need to make decisions. A sense of adventure ensues. If we’re open, we’ll recognize that everything is the result of the intentions we set sometime – somewhere.

Tension continues to rise until we reach the climax. This is where the world of the story is completely transformed. Lots of unknowns and ah-ha’s here all nestled in the rhythm of chaos. Trust is imperative because nothing is familiar.

As we move into the resolution, homeostasis returns. However, if we let it, the lyrical unfolding is at a much higher level than previously experienced. It is at this much higher level that we realize there is nothing to be healed, only truth to be revealed.

Looking at life from the element of story, I recognize that Spirit is the ultimate story teller complete with set, props, and all the actors and actresses necessary for the perfect storyline. Given that, and given that we are all made of God stuff, I decided to co-create the story of my life with the Infinite as my director. Here goes …

… “I attended this event called Burning Man that absolutely transformed my life. When I returned home, I realized the “me” I had become no longer fit into my life. As a result, everything turned into chaos right before my eyes.

As I journeyed this new path, my trust deepened to a place where I felt myself spending more time in and operating from Pure Awareness.

My daily spiritual practices became life practices. At first, this filled my days with a lot of tension. However I allowed the chaos to really show me how to embody self-love. How to know that absolutely nothing can reject me but me and no one can accept me but me.

As I leaned into this idea, amazing things began to happen. Instantly, whenever old patterns of blame or victim popped in, I recognized them, embraced them, and transformed them into owning that aspect of self.

Manifestations happened instantly. Connections with those who would help me on my path appeared at the exact right time. I stepped out of fear and into the biggest version of me.

My flame burned so bright, it attracted those who wanted what I had. Those who I could help rewrite their life story. My business practices exploded with the perfect number of clients that I easily managed.

My writing jumped to a new level because every word came from conscious union with my Divinity. My impact on Corporate America opened us to a new way of doing business that benefited everyone involved. The trickle-down affect gushed!

There I stood, in my full grace, expressing as the Power for Change… for my readers … for my clients … for my workshops … for all the potential I helped people reveal in themselves as a coach and counselor.

I transformed my life and as a result my life transformed others!”

What’s your story?

A’ra, as always, you inspire so many good things with your blogs! I believe that we are spiritually guided to create our own stories, that we are given choices for change, and to change, our lives and our life story. Whether we recognize those choices and decide to act upon them is also a choice we have to either make a change in our lives or “stay the course” and not embrace change. Seeing and accepting spiritual inspiration and guidance helps shape my life story and solidifies my belief that change is what fills our life story with richer, more colorful and loving experiences that we can share with others. Thank you for your inspiration!
